Magda Sobieska

It is likely that I have had the Crohn’s disease ever since I was a child but I have only heard the diagnose when I was 18 years old. Steroids, immunosuppression, biological therapy – I underwent many treatments. Sometimes it was better, sometimes worse.

After ten years I had a shock and then things came one after another: bowel perforation, peritonitis, sepsis, saving my life, ileostomy, colostomy, abscess, MRSA, various fistulae, long months spent in the hospital, over a dozen of surgeries, most including a bowel resection. I was fighting against all the odds. Unfortunately, it was an uneven fight. Every little bit of progress was followed by regression. All over a span of six long years.

When they proposed the parenteral nutrition to me, I knew I could only get better but little did I expect how much better!! In a few months, my organism has reached such a good condition, I didn’t recall feeling better ever before. I am still ill but thanks to a backpack pump I am socially active, I work, travel, meet with my friends, ride a bicycle, hike… I feel ALIVE!

And my APETTITE FOR LIFE just keeps growing!
